The Ivory Coast will certainly be considered the favourites to top Group E in the Africa Cup of Nations following a successful result in their opening game of the tournament. They will be looking for a third victory in the major event this year following on from the wins that they recorded in 1992 and 2015.

Ivory Coast came up against Equatorial Guinea in their opening game of the competition on Wednesday, and they edged over the line to pick up a 1-0 victory. The only goal of the game was scored early in the fixture, as Max-Alain Gradel scored with just five minutes on the clock.

That result means that they can still qualify from the group, but that remains a tall order and they must get something from this fixture.
