Inter Milan are edging closer towards their first Serie A title in ten years. Antonio Conte will be keen to ensure that his side don’t slow down now, as they will come up against Hellas Verona this weekend.
It is looking as if it is a matter of time now before Inter Milan are crowned champions in Italy. They have a healthy ten-point advantage at the top of the league with six games remaining. Inter could move a step closer to winning a first domestic league title in ten years this weekend with a victory against Hellas Verona. Conte will be wary of the form that his side have been in over the past seven days, as they have failed to win their last two fixtures. Their recent draw against Napoli brought an end to their eleven-game winning run, and they followed up that away draw last weekend with another draw in mid-week. Inter fell behind early against Spezia on Wednesday evening, but managed to hit back before the break through Ivan Perisic.
Hellas Verona will still be aiming to finish the season in the top half of the standings. However, they will need to end a long losing run, which has stretched three games this weekend to improve their chances. Verona have lost 13 of the 32 games that they have played this season, with five of those defeats coming in their previous six. They were beaten for the third game running in midweek by Fiorentina. Eddie Salcedo scored a late consolation, but they couldn’t get themselves back into the game. Verona have now conceded six goals in their previous three games in Serie A.
Hellas Verona have never beaten Inter Milan in Serie A. Inter have won eight of the eleven meetings between the sides. Verona have claimed just one draw from the five visits that they have made to the San Siro since 2013. Inter won the first meeting in Serie A between these sides this season 2-1 in December.
Inter Milan have suffered a difficult week over the past seven days, as they have picked up consecutive draws. However, we expect a response this weekend, and we fully believe that they will get the three points they require to close in on the league title.
