Chelsea will be among the favourites to win every competition that they are in this season, and that includes the EFL Cup. Thomas Tuchel will likely rest a number of first-team stars for this fixture on Wednesday evening, but that doesn’t mean that a talented eleven won’t be on show for this third round tie. Aston Villa got back to winning ways in the league on Saturday, as they also won 3-0. The Villa were very impressive in the last half an hour of that fixture against Everton, and were deserving winners at Villa Park. Matty Cash scored an excellent opening goal for the Villa, before Lucas Digne headed into his own goal after a fine delivery from Leon Bailey. Bailey himself scored the third goal of the game, as he smashed into the Everton goal before being shortly replaced after picking up a slight injury.

This will be the first cup meeting between Villa and Chelsea in over ten years. They last met in a domestic cup competition in the FA Cup in 2010, with Chelsea claiming a 3-0 victory. Villa haven’t won on their last seven visits to Stamford Bridge, which includes their 3-0 defeat earlier this month.
