AC Milan have re-established a three-point lead at the top of Serie A, and will be looking to extend that advantage with a win this weekend on the road against Cagliari.
AC Milan have shown no signs of slowing down in their relentless pursuit of the Serie A title this season. They looked as though they were running out of steam a few weeks ago, but they have recovered excellently to establish a three-point lead at the summit. They have been able to establish that lead after Inter Milan’s form has faltered. AC Milan have won four of their previous five, with their most recent league win coming against Torino. Milan also made it into the last eight this week of the Coppa Italia, as they managed to edge past Torino. It wasn’t the most straightforward of evenings for Milan, as they failed to find the back of the net despite having 23 shots on goal. There was drama in the closing stages, as Gianluigi Donnarumma was sent off for Milan. The home side were eventually able to squeak through in a penalty shootout.
Cagliari have endured a terrible recent run of form, as they haven’t been able to claim a league win in their last six games. They have also lost their last four games. That run of form means that there is just a two-point gap between Cagliari and the bottom three. If results go against them this weekend, and they are beaten by Milan, then they could drop into the bottom three this weekend. Scoring goals has been an issue for them this season, as they have the third-lowest goalscoring record in Serie A this term.
AC Milan haven’t lost to Cagliari since May 2017. The travelling side this weekend have also won the last three against their opponents this weekend without conceding a single goal. In total, Milan have scored eight goals in their last three games against Cagliari.
This shouldn’t be a difficult game to bet on this weekend for gamblers, as it should be a comfortable win for the travelling side. Milan are in excellent form, and have the better record in the head to head. Cagliari have struggled to win games this season, and their upturn in form will not start against AC Milan.
