The La Liga season kicked back into gear over the weekend, with the title race picking up from where it left off. Barcelona and Real Madrid are neck and neck at present, and that means that every game for Barca is a must win occasion. But, do Leganes have any hope of getting the three points at the Nou Camp?
Barcelona haven’t lost a step judging by their performance over the comeback weekend in La Liga. The Catalonian side have a two-point advantage over Real Madrid going into this round of midweek games, but if they can repeat their performance from the weekend, then they may be able to increase that lead.
Away form had been a concern for Barca in the first part of the season, but that would certainly appear to be a thing of the past according to their performance in Mallorca. Barcelona ran out comfortable 4-0 winners in that fixture. Arturo Vidal put Barca on the right path, before Martin Braithwaite, Jordi Alba and Lionel Messi added more goals. This fixture could be a repeat result.
It was another disappointing weekend in La Liga for Leganes, as they got sucked into more trouble with another defeat. They are now three points from safety in Spain. However, the one saving grace would certainly be that none of the sides locked in the relegation battle won this past weekend, which means that the difference in points between themselves and safety has remained the same.
Their defeat last time out came against Real Valladolid. Enes Unal and Ruben Alcatraz scored the goals for the visitors, before Oscar Rodriguez Arnaiz pulled one back for Leganes with six minutes remaining. Any hopes of Leganes getting something from this game are incredibly slim.
This will only be the ninth time that these two sides have come up against each other. Barcelona have won seven times, while Leganes have won on one occasion. That win for Leganes came in the 2018-19 season. The meeting earlier in the season saw Barcelona run out 2-1 winners.
Gamblers will have no questions about who their preference is for this fixture, as Barcelona will likely win their first home game back since the restart with a comfortable scoreline. The handicap market could be used by gamblers to ensure the most lucrative return.
