Arsenal vs Chelsea: Fa Cup Final On 1.08.2020 Round-up & Highlights

It was time for the battle of London as Arsenal and Chelsea traveled to Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup Final of the 2019/20 season.

The first half kicked off in classic Chelsea style with a stunning strike from Pulisic and Arsenal can only thank their goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for saving them from an absolute demise in the opening 20 minutes.

Pierre Aubameyang netted a penalty to earn a 1-1 draw in the 28th minute after Casar Azpilicueta pulled him to the ground just as they stepped inside the box. Since making his debut for Arsenal in February 2018, Aubameyang has scored more goals in all competitions than any other Premier League player (69, one more than Mohamed Salah).

Frank Lampard had to pick his squad up in the second half because Chelsea’s shaky defense was a disappointment so far. Arsenal took control right off the whistle and showed character by keeping the ball in Chelsea’s half. Whilst Chelsea were counting on counter strikes, Mikel Arteta’s side were putting pressure and it showed when in the 67th minute, Arsenal developed an attack that ended with Aubameyang scoring a close-range, over-the-goalkeeper beauty to give his side a 2-1 lead. Minutes later Chelsea fell to 10 men after Mateo Kovacic tripped Granit Xhaka and earned himself an unfortunate second yellow. And it so it ended. Contrary to our prediction, Arsenal won their 14th FA Cup, the most of any team.

Congratulations Arsenal, congratulations Mikel! This is Artata’s first trophy ever as manager (and he is also the first person to win the FA Cup with Arsenal as both a captain and a manager) and we can only hope to give him the time and patience to take the Gunners to the next level in the seasons to come.
