Guinea U23 is the national under-23 football team for Guinea. The team primarily features players developed within the country’s domestic football system.
Their qualification for the Olympics marked a significant achievement for the young team, considering they haven’t participated in the Olympics since 1968. They qualified on May 9th after a play-off match against Indonesia U23. Ilaix Moriba scored the winning goal from a penalty kick in the first half bringing the final result to 1-0 for Guinea.
The 2024 Olympics will take place in Paris from July 26th to August 11th. They will be in Group A alongside France, the US and New Zealand. While the competitors ahead pause a challenge, Guinea’s success in qualifying is a testament to the potential and determination of the young under-23 team.
