Sheffield United will play their final match of the 2023-24 season ahead of their return to the Championship on Sunday. Tottenham will be the visitors, as they bid to wrap up a Europa League place in the league standings.
It has been an interesting season for Tottenham this term, but despite promising so much across the early months of the campaign, they will finish outside of the Champions League places. Spurs have dipped throughout the second half of the campaign, and there will be areas to improve on throughout the summer months, as they look to add a much-needed attacking threat in the number nine position.
Tottenham will still face a fight on the final day in their hunt to wrap up a Europa League spot, as Chelsea and Newcastle could both kick off the day just three points behind Spurs. The North London side were beaten in their previous outing by Man City, which ended their hunt for a Champions League spot this term. The defeat was also their 12th of the campaign and the fourth time that they had been beaten in their last five outings.
Sheffield United will already be planning for life back in the Championship, as their relegation has looked on the cards for several months. The Blades will go back into the second tier with a number of unwanted top-flight records, including the fact that they now boast the worst defensive record in Premier League history.
The Blades have lost their last five matches in the Premier League, and they have recorded just three wins from 37 matches. Sheffield United have struggled at both ends of the field at the top level this term, scoring just 35 goals and allowing a staggering 101.
Tottenham have won three of their last four matches against Sheffield United, but the Blades have won twice across the last five. Tottenham’s only away win across all competitions against the Blades since 2015 was achieved in January 2021, losing on two of their last three visits to Bramall Lane.
It has been a challenging end to the season for both Sheffield United and Tottenham but we fully expect Spurs to outclass their rivals on the final weekend to secure a comfortable victory.
