There will be a miss-match in Serie A this weekend, as the recently crowned champions of Italy travel to Sassuolo. Inter Milan will be looking to remain on course to break the 100-point barrier by registering a third straight victory.
It has been an excellent 2023-24 season for Inter Milan, and their performances have already been awarded after being crowned champions of Italy last weekend. The Italian giants have won 28 of their 34 matches this season, and they have suffered just a single defeat.
The increased pressure this weekend will likely be on Sassuolo, as they are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Serie A standings. They have lost each of their last two matches in the competition, which leaves them five points adrift from safety in the Italian top-flight.
Sassuolo’s recent run of form makes it very challenging to see them getting out of the mess that they find themselves in. They have won just once across their last 15 matches in the league, losing on ten occasions across that period. Their only win was picked up against Frosinone in March, which was also the only time that they have kept a clean sheet in their last 15.
Bet hereInter’s haul of 89 points at this stage of the season is the third-most that they have managed in a single Serie A campaign. They could be set to exceed the tally of 97 points that they picked up when winning the title in the 2006-07 season. But, their only defeat so far this term did come in their reverse clash against Sassuolo in September.
Sassuolo’s record against Inter is fairly reliable, as they have won nine of their last 21 matches against their rivals. They haven’t won more matches against a single opponent in their top-flight history. Inter’s only defeat this term was suffered in the reverse showdown in September. Meanwhile, there have been no draws in the ten previous matches between these teams at MAPEI Stadium.
Inter don’t boast the best record against Sassuolo, which would be the only concern to consider before making selections this weekend. But, the form of the champions is very hard to overlook at this stage, meaning that it looks likely that the visitors will be going back home with maximum points.
