The action in Group E at the EUROs continues on Monday, with an eye-catching showdown in Munich between Romania and Ukraine.
It promises to be a vital clash in the race to likely finish behind Belgium in the final automatic qualifying position. Romania will be making their sixth appearance at the EUROs this summer, with their best showing coming in 2000, when they reached the quarterfinals.
Huge confidence would have been gained from their qualifying campaign, with Romania winning six of their ten matches, and avoiding defeat across all fixtures.
In fact, their only defeat in their last eleven matches was suffered in Spain against Colombia in late March. Edward Iordanescu’s young team could surpass expectations this summer. However, their last two international friendlies were disappointing, ending in 0-0 draws against Bulgaria and Liechtenstein.
Ukraine were forced to do things the hard way in order to book their spot at the EUROs this summer. However, despite their struggles, they will rank among the popular selections in this Group E opener. The nation booked their spot in late March after battling to a 2-1 success in Poland against Iceland.
But, they continue to impress on the field despite ongoing conflict back home, and they were unfortunate not to have finished in the top two positions in their qualifying group.
Solid draws against Italy, England and Germany show that they can hold their own against the very best teams in the world. Although they suffered a 3-1 loss against Poland in the last game before the start of the tournament, Ukraine could be one of the surprise teams of EURO 2024.
Bet hereThis is a match that could go in either direction, but the narrow preference is for Iordanescu’s side. Romania have won three of their last six internationals against Ukraine, and they are a young team that looks set to produce an improved showing this summer after being eliminated in the group stage at EURO 2020.
Their incredible qualifying record shows how hard they are to beat, and we could see them coming out on top with a slender 1-0 success.

Emerging stars always come out of the EUROs, and we believe Valentin Mihaila will firmly put himself in the shop window this summer.
The Romanian winger enjoyed an excellent scoring run in qualifying after netting on four occasions, and his speed could be the difference-maker against a Ukraine side that will look to play a possession-based game.
