A standout fixture in Ligue 1 this weekend will see two of the top three collide on Saturday. A victory for either Reims or Monaco could see the victors head into the international break at the top of the standings.
Both Reims and Monaco have made fantastic starts to the new Ligue 1 season, but something will need to give when they collide this weekend. Monaco currently sits at the top of the league standings after seven rounds of matches, as they have won four of their opening seven. They are the highest scorers in the division, after netting 18.
However, issues have been evident over their previous five, as they have picked up just two victories. But, they did respond well after suffering their first defeat of the campaign last term by landing victory against Marseille. But, they will need to be stronger defensively this weekend, as they have conceded at least two goals in each of their last five league matches. But, they have scored at least three goals in five matches this term.
Reims were consistent throughout last season, but they have taken their performance levels to the next level this term. They come into this match sitting third in the standings, but they could move to the top of the Ligue 1 standings with victory on Saturday evening.
They should be confident ahead of this fixture, as they have won each of their last two, and four of their opening seven this term. However, they will be looking to win three Ligue 1 games on the bounce for the first time since March on Saturday. Their latest win was a 2-0 success against Lyon, and they could be good value to back up that success.
Reims will take confidence from their recent clashes against Monaco, as they have won two of their last three. That is a huge contrast to their record before the start of this run, as they had won just once in 20 meetings. However, they have failed to score in their previous four home matches against Monaco.
This should be a fascinating clash in Ligue 1 this weekend. We fully expect both teams to score this weekend, but the narrow preference would be for Monaco to land maximum points against Reims.
