Real Madrid vs Mallorca Preview and Team News

Real Madrid Team News

Real Madrid suffered a 4-3 defeat in the last Clásico of the season, despite Kylian Mbappé registering a hat-trick. This is likely the last straw for Real Madrid to sack Carlo Ancelotti, with the only question remaining when the two parties will part ways.

Madrid were 2-0 up in the first half, but Barcelona equalised and claimed the lead thanks to goals from Eric García, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha. The match demonstrated the lack of squad depth when it comes to the defence. The backline was regularly overwhelmed by Yamal and Raphinha.

Real’s defeat also means the team will remain trophyless. They find themselves seven points behind Barcelona with only three games left until the end of the season.

Victor Muñoz, a Madrid academy graduate, featured in the Clásico ahead of Rodrygo, which could mean the end of the Brazilian’s journey at the club. Rumours claimed the Brazilian was unhappy, and his being benched will probably be the last straw.

Jude Bellingham suffered an injury and will have to undergo surgery. It’s unknown whether this will be before or after the Club World Cup.

Antonio Rüdiger, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Éder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, and Ferland Mendy are out with injuries. Aurélien Tchouaméni is suspended for the game.

Real Madrid Predicted Line-up vs Mallorca

Real Madrid Predicted line-up vs Mallorca (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Fran García, Asencio, Vallejo; Vázquez, Cabellos; Valverde, Vinicius, Bellingham; Güler, Mbappé.

Mallorca Team News

Mallorca suffered but defeated Valladolid (2-1) after conceding an early goal in the 11th minute. The team looked to attack, primarily through Takuma Asano and Vedat Muriqi.

These two forwards tormented Valladolid’s box, but the equaliser came through Mascarell. The most important goal was the one shortly after half-time. In the confusion, midfielder Sergi Darder unleashed a strike which proved to be the winner of the match.

A victory was much-needed in order to keep fighting for the European spots, as Mallorca are 9th in La Liga with 47 points, even with 9th-placed Rayo Vallecano.

The three previous games were unsuccessful for Mallorca, which is why it was essential to defeat Valladolid, the weakest team in the league.

Mallorca suffered a 1-0 defeat against Girona last week, after Stuani delivered the winner when least expected.

Abdon Prats and Manu Morlanes will be sidelined due to injuries, while Robert Navarro is awaiting medical clearance.

Real Madrid vs Mallorca Prediction

  • Prediction: Real Madrid to win
  • Odds: 1.345 (22Bet)
  • Score Prediction: Real Madrid 1-0 Mallorca

This is the last stretch of the season, possibly meaningless for Real Madrid as the title race is (almost) over. The 4-3 defeat might seem close on paper, but fans were aware that the team could have conceded a couple more and were not close to winning.

They have lost four Clásicos and only have the Club World Cup left to fight for in June/July.

On the other hand, they’ll face a compact side that are fighting for a spot in the Conference League. However, a result is unlikely with the injury to Prats. The match will be played at the Bernabeu, where Madrid usually win against Mallorca.

Real Madrid vs Mallorca Betting Tip

  • Pick: Kylian Mbappé to score
  • Odds: 1.667 (22Bet)

Real Madrid may have little hope at this stage, but Mbappé has everything to fight for in these last matches. He leads the Pichichi race, a trophy that awards the best goalscorer of the season in La Liga.

His hat-trick against Barcelona means he’s now registered 27 goals, two more than Robert Lewandowski. With Mallorca struggling against pacey attackers, this could be the opportunity for Mbappé to up his tally further.
