Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo Preview and Team News

Real Madrid Team News

Real Madrid lost the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona (3-2) in overtime, despite overcoming a 1-0 deficit in the second half. If Tchouaméni’s strike with fifteen minutes left to go granted a 2-1 lead, Torres’ equalizer in the 84th minute took the game to extra time. Jules Koundé scored the winner.

The season has been deemed a failure by most fans, and Carlo Ancelotti was already reported to have lost the trust of the dressing room before the Copa del Rey final.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is aware of and has been thinking about Xabi Alonso as a potential replacement. Ancelotti, in reply, was reported to have found a deal with the Brazilian National Team to coach them for the next few years.

That deal, however, collapsed according to Relevo, as Madrid expressed frustration with the rumours. Ancelotti then told Brazil that he could only confirm the acceptance of a deal once he was let go by the club. According to the same report, a humiliation in the Clásico in ten days would likely result in his sacking.

Real Madrid sit 2nd in La Liga with 72 points, four behind Barcelona, and five matches left until the end of the season.

Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba are confirmed to have ended the season due to injuries, with the former going through surgery. Daniel Carvajal, Éder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, and Ferland Mendy will also be out.

Real Madrid Predicted Line-up vs Celta Vigo

Real Madrid Predicted line-up vs Celta Vigo (4-2-3-1): Courtois; García, Vallejo, Asencio, Vázquez; Valverde, Tchouaméni; Vinicius, Bellingham, Rodrygo; Mbappé.

Celta Vigo Team News

Celta Vigo defeated Villarreal 3-0 as they took advantage of Eric Bailly’s red card in the 37th minute. Fer López, who’s been one of the brightest youngsters of the season, opened the scoring shortly before half-time. In the second half, Celta continued to dominate as Borja Iglesias and Iago Aspas netted as well.

Borja Iglesias’ loan spell with Celta ends at the end of this season, but the players and the team would like to continue together. However, the club’s lack of finances may prevent that from happening. Real Betis would have the last word, as Iglesias is tied in until 2026. Should the player push for a move, the transfer may be feasible, though with a salary cut.

Celta Vigo sit 7th and could qualify for the Conference League, granting them European football for the first time in almost ten years.

Carl Starfelt and Jones El-Abdellaoui will be sidelined due to injuries.

Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo Prediction

  • Prediction: Real Madrid to win
  • Odds: 1.33 (22Bet)
  • Score Prediction: Real Madrid 2-0 Celta Vigo

Although Real Madrid have not lost the title race yet, it’s a likely outcome. Everything will be decided at the Clásico in Montjuïc in ten days, meaning the hosts have no choice but to win the match against Celta Vigo.

They can count on home support and a fully fit Kylian Mbappé. However, this will be no easy game due to the injuries of Alaba, Rüdiger, and Mendy. Vallejo and Asencio are probably going to start the meeting – unless Tchouaméni is shifted to center-back. That would benefit the likes of Aspas and Iglesias.

Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo Betting Tip

  • Pick: Kylian Mbappé to score
  • Odds: 1.53 (22Bet)

Mbappé was not 100% against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, but this didn’t stop him from scoring in the 70th minute after he came on in the second half.

There is no doubt the returning star could score again, now fully fit, especially with the injury to centre-back Starfelt. Mbappé’s pace is always a challenge for opponents, especially at the Bernabéu.
