They won two of three matches, defeating Atlético Madrid and Seattle Sounders and losing to Botafogo. Luis Enrique’s men even looked dominant in that 1-0 defeat to the Brazilian giants after racking up 75% of time with the ball.

The reigning UEFA Champions League victors have a golden chance to progress to the quarterfinals and should cruise to victory against Inter Miami — at least on paper. Paris Saint-Germain have registered at least 70% of possession in their three opening games. If they maintain that trend, they’ll find a way to break the Americans’ resistance sooner rather than later.

PSG have a combined xG of over 4.50, their momentum from winning the UEFA Champions League, and a healthy Ballon D’Or candidate, Ousmane Dembele. They probably won’t suffer much en route to a potential berth in the quarterfinals, especially since they have no key absences going into the weekend.

Las Garzas secured a 2-1 win over FC Porto, with Lionel Messi playing a prominent role, and also drew against Al Ahly and Palmeiras. Messi wasn’t the dominant threat he is at the MLS level on a game-to-game basis, but he stepped up whenever the squad needed him.

His highlight moment came against Porto, as he scored the match-winning goal with a perfect free kick from the edge of the box, capping Inter Miami’s second-half comeback. He also showed his quality against Palmeiras with a couple of delightful touches.

Had Inter held on a bit longer against Palmeiras, they would’ve ended in first place in Group A and could’ve avoided PSG. Such was not the case, and now the Florida-based club will be the massive underdogs against the reigning UCL champions. 

At least Inter are close to full strength for this match. Left-back Jordi Alba is expected to start after coming off the bench in his two previous CWC appearances.
