Despite leading in the first half against Monaco (0-1), Nice failed to convert their advantage into a final victory and eventually lost 2-1. Added to their woes, Dante was sent off in the final minutes, and it was their third winless game.
Nice sit fourth with 47 points. Prior to these three rounds, they were enjoying a five-point lead over fifth-placed Lille. Now, their position to qualify for the Champions League is in jeopardy.
Aside from Dante, who’ll be suspended for the upcoming two fixtures, Nice will be without former Tottenham player Tanguy Ndombele. The French midfielder has a groin injury.
Nice predicted lineup vs Nantes: (3-4-2-1): Bułka; Mendy, Bombito, Ndayishimiye; Abdi, Santamaria, Rosario, Clauss; Boga, Cho; Laborde.
Nantes also suffered a defeat last week, losing 3-2 in a five-goal thriller against Le Havre. They trailed twice and could have sealed the draw, but the 88th-minute strike from Timothée Pembélé shattered their hopes.
The club are now under threat of being relegated in the French top-tier. With 27 points, they sit 13th, but the gap from 16th place is only three points. Given their recent performance, it’ll be a massive challenge in the remaining games.
Nantes will be without several players. Jean-Charles Castelletto is suspended, while Marcus Coco, Tino Kadewere, and Nathan Zeze all sit out with injuries. Pedro Chirivella is questionable, but we expect the Spaniard to start from the first minute.
Nantes predicted lineup vs Nice: (4-3-3): Lopes; Cozza, Pallois, Sow, Amian; Augusto, Chirivella, Lepenant; Simon, Thomas, Mohamed.
Bet hereNantes are tough opponents. The hosts have failed to beat them in the previous six H2H meetings. However, unlike past seasons, the situation is different now. The visitors are fighting for survival, while Nice aim to secure a spot in the Champions League.
At the same time, Franck Haise’s men need to bounce back in front of their fans. Even though the outcomes of the last three matches were disappointing, they have a great chance to recover.
We think it’ll be a physical encounter, but eventually, the home squad will emerge victorious. Our first pick for the game is Nice to win.
Both clubs have been inconsistent this season. Neither can boast of delivering attacking football, and we don’t expect to see a goal-fest in the following clash either.
In the previous four out of six H2H games, we saw fewer than three nets. Most likely, it’ll be a tense match filled with fouls. Plenty of goal-scoring moments are not anticipated.
As Nantes are considered the underdogs, a draw will be an acceptable result. For Nice, on the other hand, even winning by a narrow margin would be a success. Thus, we don’t see a high-scoring affair playing out, and our second pick is under 2.5 goals.
