Nice’s dismal performance in the Europa League has come to an end, and they’ve been eliminated from the tournament. Their loss against Elfsborg sealed the deal for the French side, as they have only two points after seven rounds.

Unlike the European competition, the hosts have been doing well in Ligue 1. With 30 points in 18 games, they sit fifth in the standings. They’re only a point behind fourth-placed Monaco, who’ve experienced a severe decline in form.

In their previous round, Nice lost to Lille (2-1) despite being ahead in the first half. In an equal match, Sofiane Diop gave the visitors a lead, but two goals from Hákon Arnar Haraldsson and Bafode Diakite ensured the victory their rivals’ victory.

Nice will be without Diop who will miss the game due to yellow cards. Canadian Moise Bombito is injured, while Jeremie Boga and Terem Moffi are sidelined. 

Marseille

Marseille confidently sit second in the table with 37 points in 18 matches. While they’ll find it hard to challenge PSG for the title, the hopes of securing a place in the Champions League are realistic.

Perhaps Roberto De Zerbi deserves credit for the team’s tremendous progress. The Italian manager, instrumental in Brighton, has altered the situation and revitalised Mason Greenwood. The young English forward now has 12 goals and is leading Ligue 1. 

However, Marseille dropped valuable points against Strasbourg (1-1) in the last round. The hosts were losing after the first half, but the 68th-minute penalty from Mason Greenwood salvaged a tie for them.

Elye Wahi and Geoffrey Kondogbia are two notable absences ahead of the match. Amine Harit has returned from an injury but will most likely sit on the bench.

In the absence of Terem Moffi, Evann Guessand has been the top performer for the home squad, netting eight goals and delivering four assists in Ligue 1. Similar to Mason Greenwood, he’ll have a significant impact in this match.
