Monza, who are sure to be relegated by the end of the season, take on Napoli in the 33rd round of the Italian Serie A competition on Saturday.
They will try not to concede too many goals in this meeting and force their opponents to play without much possession. Monza will have to be sharp in the final third if they’re to get ahead in this fixture and put their rivals on the back foot.
However, not a lot has gone right for the home team in recent matches. Firstly, they’ve scored a mere 4 goals in their last 5 events, which is simply not good enough at this level.
At the same time, Monza haven’t won a game in their last 12 attempts, and this is bound to worry their supporters. Against Napoli, it seems highly unlikely that this streak will end, but the hosts won’t go away for lack of trying.
The fact that they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 7 matches means it’s high time that their defenders stand up.
Regarding injuries, however, Monza don’t have to worry too much as only Matteo Pessina seems to be a doubtful starter due to a recent muscle injury.
Monza predicted lineup vs Napoli (3-5-2): Turati; Pereira, Izzo, D’Ambrosio; Birindelli, Ciurria, Blanco, Akpro, Caldirola; Mota, Balde.
Napoli, currently ranked second in the league table, will fight for the Serie A title till the end. They’ll have one of their easier days in the office when they travel to take on Monza.
However, injuries to Alessandro Buongiorno, Leonardo Spinazzola, and Nikita Contini will lead to a lot of changes in their starting lineup in this game. This might hand their opponents somewhat of an advantage.
The guests, who like to play with a high defensive line, are known to be explosive with the ball. They’ll exploit any spaces they see in the Monza unit.
Ranked 3rd away from home this season, Napoli fancy themselves in this encounter. This is not least because star attacker Romelu Lukaku will lead from the front and provide the main impetus for all their goal-coring chances.
Picking up all three points on offer will be Napoli’s sole aim in this fixture, as it will go a long way in pushing Inter Milan for the title.
Napoli predicted lineup vs Monza (4-3-3): Meret; Mazzocchi, Rrahmani, Jesus, Di Lorenzo; Gilmour, Lobotka, McTominay; Politano, Lukaku, Neres.
Bet hereThe visitors are the outright favourites to win on Saturday, and we expect them to do so comfortably. Naturally, the question in this game is how many goals Napoli can score and what margin they can manage over Monza.
There have been a total of seven events recorded between these teams in the past, out of which Napoli won three and the hosts took just one.
The rest of the fixtures were draws. The guests won their previous two encounters against Monza.
We predict a total of over two goals in this game, with most of them coming from Napoli’s stellar attacking unit.
Lukaku is bound to be the main player through whom most of their attacking chances will go. Scott McTominay’s presence in central midfield is certain to demolish any confidence that Monza might have.
The former Manchester United player, renowned for his break-up of play and distribution, will play a critical role in the central midfield region.
He’ll be useful for Napoli in building attacks and passing the ball to key players in the final third. Monza are unlikely to contribute much to the scoreline.
