In their other two group events, Manchester City beat Wydad AC 2-0 with ten men and thrashed Al Ain, 6-0. Guardiola will hope this high will extend their impressive run into the RO16 when they lock horns with Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal on Tuesday.

Only central midfielder Mateo Kovacic is missing after not making the CWC side due to surgery on his Achilles tendon. However, with the returning Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, Guardiola will be focusing on integrating the new signing into the already depth-heavy squad.
