Juventus will be looking to take another step toward securing Champions League qualification this weekend when they welcome Salernitana to Turin. The pressure has eased on the visitors after their relegation has already been confirmed.
It has been a captivating race for Champions League qualification in Serie A this term, and at least six teams still have a realistic chance of finishing inside the top four. Juventus are on course to assure their return to the major competition, despite stuttering for form throughout the second half of the season, which has seen them drop to third in the standings.
Their form hasn’t shown many signs of improving in recent weeks, as they come into this round after going four without a victory. However, they have also not lost in their last five, with their previous four matches all ending in draws. Juventus were most recently held by Roma, as Gleison Bremer netted the equaliser just 15 minutes after the Rome-based side had taken an early lead.
Bet hereIt has been a miserable top-flight campaign in Italy for Salernitana this term, and their relegation to the second tier has already been assured. The Italian side sit 15 points from safety, and they have picked up just two victories in 35 outings. Salernitana also have the worst defensive record in the competition, and they have lost four more games than any other side in Serie A.
The visitors come into this round in poor form after losing each of their last four matches. Their most recent defeat was suffered on Monday after falling to a 2-1 defeat at home against Atalanta. On the road, Salernitana have scored just eleven goals in 17 matches, and their only win was recorded at Hellas Verona.
Juventus are unbeaten across their last six matches against Salernitana in all competitions. They also come into this weekend after winning each of the last three. That includes a 2-1 success that was achieved on the road on matchday 19 in January.
Salernitana’s poor form throughout this season is hard to ignore, while Juventus are still fighting for important points in the race for Champions League qualification. Therefore, the preference is for the home victory in Turin this weekend.
