Germany are in Nations League action at the Allianz Arena on Thursday. They are targeting their first win under new boss Jürgen Klopp against Serbia.
Changes guaranteed as Germany’s problems continue
After initially naming two squads for his first international break as Germany boss, Klopp will take a look at a fresh batch of players over the final two games. Major alterations are therefore expected following a surprise 1-0 defeat to Greece.
Aleksandar Pavlović, Tom Bischof, David Raum, Waldemar Anton and Nick Woltemade are among the more established names that could be drafted into the side. However, a handful of players have been retained from the opening matches, including Serge Gnabry and Florian Wirtz.
Woltemade is the player most likely to lead the line. The 24-year-old netted four times in six appearances during 2026 World Cup qualifying, but has been disappointing at club level since then.
Germany predicted lineup vs Serbia (4-2-3-1): Atubolu; Baku, Anton, Schlotterbeck, Raum; Pavlović, Bischof; Gnabry, Wirtz, El Mala; Woltemade.
Injury-hit Serbia struggling in Group B
Veljko Paunović would have been expecting some tough matches in this Nations League campaign, and so it has proved. 2-1 home defeats for Serbia against the Netherlands and Greece make them the clear favourites for fourth place and relegation.
Injuries to Dušan Vlahović, Aleksandar Mitrović, Nikola Milenković and Predrag Rajković have added to the problems for the visitors. Strahinja Pavlović was also dealing with fatigue last time out and may be rested in Munich.
Luka Jović netted within a minute of coming on against the Netherlands on Sunday. He’s a strong candidate to come into the starting lineup, with the 28-year-old hoping to improve on a return of 12 goals from 54 international appearances.
Serbia predicted lineup vs Germany (5-4-1): V. Milinković-Savić; Nedeljković, Gudelj, Babić, Eraković, Terzić; Živković, A. Stanković, Lukić, S. Milinković-Savić; Jović.
Germany vs Serbia Prediction
- Safe Tip: Second half - Germany to score under 2 goals
- Odds: 1.28 (22Bet)
- Correct score prediction: Germany 2-0 Serbia
- 22Bet Booking Code: MX6VR
Key stats:
- Germany have only scored one second-half goal across their past four matches.
- Since comfortably beating minnows Curaçao at the World Cup, Die Mannschaft have netted just five times in five games.
- Serbia haven’t conceded more than twice in any of their previous six competitive fixtures.
This is clearly an experimental international window for the hosts, with Klopp still a long way from deciding on his best team. He’s particularly short on attacking options, with just one goal scored across Die Mannschaft’s opening two Nations League fixtures.
With Deniz Undav and Kai Havertz not involved, Woltemade has a chance to show what he can do, but the Juventus striker has only clocked up 49 minutes in Serie A this season.
Serbia are expected to set up very defensively with their wing-backs dropping deep to form a five-man backline. Backing Germany to score under 2 goals in the second half is a safe pick at 1.28.
Germany vs Serbia Prediction, Value Tip
- Value Tip: Under 3.5 goals
- Odds: 1.78 (22Bet)
- 22Bet Booking Code: URMVR
For additional value, under 3.5 goals is a smart choice at 1.78. That has been a winning bet in each of Germany’s last five matches.
None of the four games so far in this Nations League group have produced more than three goals. Seven of the previous eight internationals involving Serbia have also ended with three or fewer goals.
Verdict: Second half - Germany to score under 2 goals (1.28) — Germany 2-0 Serbia
