Jude Bellingham was the man for the big moment in England’s late turnaround against Slovakia in the previous round, highlighting once again that Southgate was right to start the tournament with the Real Madrid man in the number ten position.

The midfield battle will be crucial on Saturday, with the Swiss boasting power in that area of the field. Therefore, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Kobbie Mainoo and Jude Bellingham operate in a three-man midfield alongside Declan Rice.
Kieran Trippier’s performances also means that a new left-back could be deployed on Saturday, with Foden also likely to drop out of the side in order to give Cole Palmer a chance.
The midfield battle will determine the side that wins this tie, but if England are to dominate possession, then they will need to be more progressive in the final third with their final passes to cause this well-structured Swiss defence issues.
This weekend could be the time when the shackles finally come off for England. Foden’s likely exclusion means Bellingham will have extra space to work in, with Palmer and Bukayo Saka likely to be asked to stay wide to offer balance to the team.
However, we could still see the Swiss causing issues for England, especially considering another unrecognised left-back will be playing, and Marc Guehi will be suspended.
Including Mainoo on the England side allows Declan Rice to roam forward more freely, something that many believe will benefit the team in the long term. Rice was close to scoring in the match against Slovakia, but his effort rebounded off the post before Kane put the ball over the net.
His long-range shooting could be a factor on Saturday, and the Arsenal man could be an interesting betting angle to find the net.
