Borussia Dortmund have been short on victories in the DFB Pokal throughout their illustrious history, but they remain among the main contenders to land a success this term. The German giants haven’t won the competition since 2021, and that remains their only success in the competition since the start of 2018. 

They have often overlooked the domestic competition in recent seasons, as they have failed to make at least the semi-finals in five of the previous six seasons. Dortmund crashed out in the tournament at the quarterfinal stage last term. Hoffenheim will be looking to achieve a historic first triumph in the DFB Pokal this term, as they are yet to win a major piece of silverware in Germany. They come into the fixture in solid recent form, as they have landed victories in two of their last three matches to sit sixth in the Bundesliga standings. 

Hoffenheim produced their best performance of the season over the weekend, as they landed a memorable 3-2 win on the road against Stuttgart. The German side were also strong in the opening round of the domestic competition, as they recorded a 4-1 win on the road against Lubeck.
