A huge London derby takes place in the Premier League on Sunday, as Chelsea and West Ham collide at Stamford Bridge. Both sides will be looking to get their form back on track after enduring miserable results throughout the month of April.
It has been another forgettable season in the Premier League for Chelsea, as the Blues look set to miss out on a European place for the second straight campaign. That has seen Mauricio Pochettino come under pressure, and the former Tottenham and PSG coach could be relieved of his duties at the conclusion of the season.
Chelsea currently sit down in ninth in the standings, and they have picked up just one victory from their last five matches across all competitions. The Blues come into this weekend after failing to win in each of their last two, and they were last in action playing out a draw against Aston Villa on Saturday. However, there was enough character in that display to highlight that they could bounce back to winning ways this weekend.
David Moyes also comes into the final month of the season under increasing pressure. The Hammers could opt to replace the Scotsman at the end of the season, despite the fact that they are sitting eighth in the current standings. West Ham have won 13 of their 35 matches this term, but only Newcastle have suffered more defeats of the sides in the top nine places.
The Hammers have struggled in recent weeks in the Premier League after picking up just a single victory over their last five. Meanwhile, they come into this round of matches after going three without a victory, and losing on two occasions over that period.
West Ham landed a 3-1 success in the reverse clash between the sides in August, ending a three-game winless run against the Blues. Chelsea have won each of the last four matches between the sides at Stamford Bridge, which includes a 2-1 success last term. West Ham’s last away win at Chelsea was picked up in November 2019.
West Ham haven’t been very good on the road in recent weeks, and they are likely to finish at the bottom end of the top half of the standings. We could see Chelsea landing the bragging rights in this London derby on Sunday.
