Two of the sides that have achieved a Champions League finish in Serie A will collide on Monday evening. Bologna and Juventus will still be on a collision course to finish third in the standings, and this showdown could be pivotal in determining which side will finish in the desired position.
Juventus and Bologna were both celebrating last weekend, as their spots in next season’s Champions League were officially confirmed. It is a memorable success for the hosts this week, as Bologna will be playing in the European Cup for the first time in 60 years. The Italian side have been excellent throughout the season, winning 18 of their 36 matches, and suffering just five defeats.
Their strong form has continued throughout the second half of the campaign, as they have avoided defeat across their last five in the league. But, they have recorded just two victories across that period, with three matches ending in draws. But, they did register a famous win in their previous outing after battling to a 2-0 success on the road against Napoli.
Bet hereJuventus will also be making their return to the Champions League next season after their spot in the desired positions was assured last weekend. However, the Old Lady will likely be slightly disappointed that they weren’t able to sustain their push for a league title challenge.
They come into this penultimate fixture of the season after playing out draws in each of their last five matches, but they have among the best defensive records in the competition this term. Juventus played out a 1-1 draw against Salernitana in their previous outing, with Adrien Rabiot netting the crucial equaliser in the first minute of second-half injury time.
Juventus have a staggeringly impressive record in this fixture after winning 20 of their last 28 matches against Bologna across all competitions. However, each of the last two matches between the sides have ended in draws, while Juventus have recorded just one victory across the last four.
Bologna haven’t beaten Juventus since February 2011 and they have lost six of their last seven home matches against the Old Lady. However, both sides have enjoyed an excellent campaign this term, and the recent form of the hosts could mean that they are good value to land a historic win over their rivals.
