After back-to-back defeats in Group C, Bolivia are at the bottom of the group with zero points and facing imminent exit from the Copa America ahead of their last match of the group stages against Panama on Tuesday.
They lost their opening match 2-0 against the hosts USA. In their last match, they were emphatically beaten by Uruguay 5-0, sinking even deeper in the group as their weaknesses were exposed by ruthless opponents.
Bolivia were behind by the 8th minute when Facundo Pellistri grabbed the opener before Uruguay doubled their lead in the 21st minute through Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez.
Uruguay added three goals in a spell of 12 minutes through Mazimiliano Araujo (77th minute), Federico Valverde (81st minute). And Rodrigo Bentancur (89th minute) to seal an impressive win.
It’s back to the drawing board for Bolivia as they prepare to entertain Panama on Tuesday.
After they lost 3-1 against Uruguay in their opening Group C clash, Panama bounced back to winning ways after shocking hosts USA in a 2-1 win in an eventful match.
The USA made a bad start to the match when Timothy Weah was sent off in the 18th minute. This made the rest of the match significantly harder for the USMNT. However, they took the lead at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, rallying the troops momentarily.
Panama equalized almost immediately through Cesar Blackman in the 26th minute before striking the winner in the 83rd minute. However, Panama had Adelberto Carrasquillo sent off in the 88th minute to set up a grand finish. Panama held on for three precious points.
According to football bet predictions on 22Bet, Panama will win their final match against Bolivia on Tuesday to qualify.
Bet hereBolivia’s defense has shown significant weaknesses in the opening two matches, and their final third has lacked cutting edge. Panama, on the other hand, has shown fighting spirit and quality in the final third.
My Copa America football prediction is that they will win this match and progress into the knockout stages.
Bolivia are yet to hit the back of the net at the Copa America, but they have a decent chance to break their duck against Panama.
Panama’s defensive frailties and their need to go on the offensive to secure three points will likely open up the game. This should lead to an attacking contest, with both sides creating relatively high-quality chances.
