FC Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano Preview and Team News

FC Barcelona Team News

In recent days, Director of Football Deco secured key contract extensions, including striker Robert Lewandowski (until 2026) and Pau Cubarsí (until 2029). The squad had already announced star midfielder Pedri’s extension last week.

According to Relevo, FC Barcelona will not travel to the U.S. for their pre-season matches this summer. Instead, the club are considering an ‘Asia Tour,’ which would go through China and Japan. They last toured the continent in 2019 and 2013. This would rule out a Clásico in Summer, with Liverpool being cited as a likely opponent.

Currently, Barcelona sit third in La Liga, two points behind leaders Real Madrid. The Catalans have won their last three games, including a 7-1 victory over Valencia. They then defeated Los Che again in the Copa del Rey (5-0), prompting some fans to leave after just 25 minutes. For the semifinals, the hosts will face Atlético de Madrid.

Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal, Marc-André Ter Stegen, and Ronald Araújo will be sidelined due to injury. Fermín López, who scored against Sevilla, is suspended.

FC Barcelona predicted lineup vs Rayo Vallecano (4-2-3-1): Szczęsny; Balde, Cubarsí, Martínez, Koundé; Pedri, Casadó; Raphinha, Gavi, Yamal; Lewandowski.

Rayo Vallecano Team News

Rayo Vallecano forward Raúl de Tomás trained for the first time in over two months, with the club officially stating he was sidelined due to a “common illness.” His last appearance came in the Copa del Rey on October 29.

He was seen two days ago training individually for the first time this year. The club president said this was due to medical precautions, while journalists wondered whether there was not something else to it.

Vallecano defeated Real Valladolid (1-0) last weekend in a challenging encounter. Two players left the pitch injured, which did not prevent the side from dominating their rivals and keeping their usual intensity in possession.

Despite their intense control, Rayo Vallecano were wasteful in the final third and only broke the deadlock in the 70th minute when Álvaro scored the game’s only goal. Isi Palazón, named MVP, played a key role as the team’s primary playmaker, frequently receiving the ball between the lines.

Sergio Camello hurt himself against Real Valladolid and is expected to be out for three months. Unai López also left the pitch, but his injury isn’t as severe, and he could feature in Monday’s match.

Raul de Tomás and Joni Montiel remain sidelined.

Rayo Vallecano predicted lineup vs FC Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Batalla; Chavarría, Lejeune, Mumin’ Ratiu; Ciss, Diaz; García, Palazón, De Frutos; Nteka.

FC Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano Prediction

  • Prediction: FC Barcelona to win
  • Odds: 1.175 (22Bet)
  • Score Prediction: FC Barcelona 3-1 Rayo Vallecano

Barcelona put four past Sevilla, and Rayo Vallecano could suffer a similar fate. The visitors struggled away from home due to the difference in pitch dimensions. The FC club usually fares well against opponents who leave their structure exposed to counter-attacks, which happens to be the case with the guests.

Both teams have similar defensive records (Barcelona conceded 25, Vallecano 24), but the Catalans scored 64 goals, while the opposition achieved less than 30. With all attacking players available, the hosts are expected to score at least twice in front of their fans.

FC Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano Betting Tip

  • Pick: Dani Olmo to score
  • Odds: 1.95 (22Bet)

Although not in our predicted XI, Dani Olmo is anticipated to feature in the second half. When fit, he has demonstrated he’s a key player in offensive transitions, whether as a midfielder or as an inverted left winger.

The Spaniard runs fast with the ball, accelerating the team’s transitions. If he receives between the lines, he could cause issues in counter-attacks on Monday.
