Atalanta will play their penultimate match of the Serie A season just days after their Europa League showdown against Bayer Leverkusen. The hosts will need maximum points to almost assure their place in the top five places in Italy’s top flight.
A busy end to the season is set for Atalanta over the next seven days or so, as they have a Europa League final to prepare for, as well as two final rounds of matches in the Italian top-flight. Atalanta’s penultimate match of the season will be played on Sunday, and they couldn’t come into the clash in much better form.
The Italian side have picked up victories in each of their last five matches, and they could yet end the season as high as third in the standings. However, a victory this weekend would almost effectively ensure their spot in next season’s Champions League. Atalanta come into the weekend sitting three points clear of AS Roma, while they also boast a healthy goal difference advantage over their rivals.
Torino will be taking to the field for the final time this season on Sunday, as they chase a victory that will ensure their spot in the top half of the standings. They come into this round sitting ninth, and an away victory over their rivals could see them end the round in eighth.
Torino should be full of confidence based on their recent outings in Serie A, as they have gone three without a defeat, and have lost just once across their last five. Meanwhile, the Italian side have picked up victories in each of their last two matches in Serie A.
Torino picked up a rare victory over Atalanta in the reverse clash this term after dominating to claim a 3-0 win in December. That success ended a seven-game unbeaten sequence in this fixture for the home side. However, Atalanta have still won two of the last three, and are unbeaten in home matches against their rivals since November 2015.
Atalanta will be hoping to sign off on the final weekend of the season with a much-needed victory. We expect them to have far too much for their Italian rivals on Sunday, meaning that we will be siding with them recording a 2-0 home win.
