John Kennedy scored for Pachuca in the 10th minute, but an equalizer from Trézeguet led the game to a standstill. The penalties showed Pachuca’s confidence, as all five takers converted on the spot, while Al Ahly only scored three.

Miami came back from a 0-2 deficit against second-placed Philadelphia to make it 3-3, demonstrating the team’s defence needs urgent fixes. This can be partially explained by an injury crisis at the back. It forced Mascherano to rely on players he didn’t expect to be working with at the start of the season.
