We’ve witnessed plenty of exciting moments in 2024. New starlets shone from domestic tournaments to Euro 2024 and beyond while we also discovered creative managers.
As 2024 gradually approaches its end, we have compiled the best coaches this year. Have a look at our list!
Simone Inzaghi has been in charge of Inter Milan since 2021. The Italian coach is known for his unique approach to the game. In 2024, he won his maiden Serie A title and led the team to the 2023 Champions League final, where they were eventually beaten by Man City.
Despite some criticism, Inter are consistent in domestic and European tournaments. Winning another trophy would only solidify his position as a head coach.
Before moving to Juventus, Thiago Motta was excellent at Bologna. He helped his side secure a spot in the Champions League. Of course, a coach with such an achievement immediately became the target for top European clubs.
Juventus prevailed, and Motta gradually started to incorporate his philosophy. Despite some struggles, the Old Lady are demonstrating a much better football game now.
Gasperini could be called the epitome of a lively football. The Atalanta coach has helped his side defeat unbeaten Leverkusen (3-0) in the Europa League final.
Gian Piero Gasperini is the key to Atalanta’s success. After a mediocre start to the 2024/25 season, Bergamaschi went on a winning streak and are in the battle of Scudetto.
Ruben Amorim’s Sporting was fun to watch. The Portuguese coach, known for his vision and tactics, has created a formidable team that are sweeping others away in the Liga Portugal.
With so many European teams fighting to acquire him, Amorim eventually moved to Manchester on November 1st. So far, his results are not satisfying, and he has a lot to do to help the Red Devils bring back the desired glory.
Prior to the start of the Euro 2024, Spain were not the favourites to win the trophy. However, they won every match in a solid fashion. They beat teams like France, England and Germany.
Luis de la Fuente was instrumental in the success. Spain are playing dominantly, and the midfield controls the opponents. Wingers Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams are also a nightmare for the defenders.
After letting go of Xavi, Barcelona were in search of a new head coach. Hansi Flick, the former Bayern manager, turned out to be the most optimal choice. Under him, Blaugrana are playing attacking football and producing high-scoring affairs.
The standout characteristic of Flick’s Barcelona has been the famous offside trap. Also, the German coach puts emphasis on youngsters such as Marc Bernal and Marc Casadó.
Arne Slot had a difficult job replacing Jürgen Klopp, who created an unforgettable era. However, he adapted easily to the team and even helped struggling players bounce back.
So far, Slot has a 100% record in the Champions League, and the Reds are heavy favourites to clinch the Premier League title. Liverpool are arguably one of the best teams in Europe right now.
Carlo Ancelotti could easily be considered one of the top five coaches of all time. The Italian manager won his fifth Champions League title in 2024. No manager has done it more times than Ancelotti.
Carlo received some criticism for failing to find a proper place for Kylian Mbappé. However, he continues to prove everyone wrong by winning more titles.
Xabi Alonso’s story in Leverkusen would be enough to make a film. The former Spanish midfielder will always be remembered in Germany. First, he helped Leverkusen secure the first-ever Bundesliga title without a single loss in the domestic championship!
Alonso’s tactics and strategy caused trouble for every other team. In his system, every player plays a crucial role, and he deservedly occupies second place on our list.
Now for first place! We conclude our list with Pep Guardiola. The former Barcelona manager has completely revolutionized football and won four consecutive Premier League titles with Man City.
He also led the team to the Champions League trophy in 2023 and created a ferocious side. Despite recent struggles in the Premier League, Guardiola is still the best coach of 2024, in my opinion.
