The 2024/25 Premier League season kicks off on Friday, August 16, with Manchester United hosting Fulham at Old Trafford. Last season, Manchester City clinched the title, finishing ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool, and became the first club to win four Premier League titles in a row.
As the new season approaches, the big question is whether City can continue their dominance or if another team can finally halt their unprecedented run. Our 22Bet team will analyze the key contenders and try to identify the favorites for the upcoming season.

The Premier League has garnered the most attention in recent years, attracting top coaching and playing talent thanks to its financial clout and competitive nature – no matter how weak the project is. But all of that is okay – it has never been a barrier for fans.
As the new season approaches, Manchester City is expected to be one of the front-runners again – and will likely become the crowned winner. The ‘signing’ of Savio is a major reason to believe a similar season can be expected from Manchester City, and it’s hard to see anyone stopping them.
Liverpool looks promising without a doubt, but the club faces uncertainty with the managerial change as Jürgen Klopp takes a break and Arne Slot steps into the unknown.
Pre-season has shown glimpses of a revitalized Liverpool, with players like Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo stepping up. Gakpo, in particular, could become a key creator for the team, but replicating his form from the Euros will be crucial. Whether he will be able to do so is a valid worry without an answer.
Whatever the outcome, it’s unlikely to be enough for Liverpool to defeat Manchester City, but the Reds definitely come as a challenger to Man City’s dominance.
Determining the top scorer is a difficult task. Chelsea has brought in several forwards, but none have truly convinced as potential Golden Boot winners.
Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund is a candidate, but he’s not my top choice, given the number of mistakes the team has been making in the past seasons. Erik ten Hag is still there, for better or worse. No matter how much INEOS invests, there needs to be a radical change in structure. If this isn’t fixed, it’ll be hard for Højlund to remain a credible candidate.
It might surprise a few, but I’d expect Savio to be the top scorer – ahead of a few of his teammates. The Brazilian is still young, but his first season in La Liga revealed he is more than the average talent to break through. He showed great attacking numbers in La Liga, and while I don’t expect him to replicate that form, it’s fair to say expectations will remain high.
Keeping in mind he’ll be fortunate enough to be surrounded by one of the healthiest environments, I expect Savio to deliver from his first days – and break the opposition match after match.
His unique dribbling skill allows him to get past most players. In a league that is less tactically organized than La Liga, it would mean that Savio could become a top scorer. Or better said, the top scorer.
Determining the best player in a league where players are signed on a daily basis during the transfer window is an incredibly difficult task. And still, there are some players that come to mind. Among them, one would name Rodri – a player who seems to always be a hot candidate for this spot, often providing Manchester City’s stability at the heart of the pitch.
For those who want a more original name, James Maddison presents an intriguing option. Despite suffering an injury setback last season, Maddison demonstrated his quality and creativity when fit.
This season, much will depend on how Ange Postecoglou organizes Tottenham and how he develops the team’s playing style. And yet, despite the uncertainty surrounding the team, I continue to believe he could be one of those players whose performances aren’t affected by the team’s inconsistency.
Man City will come into the 24-25 season as the red-hot favorites to win a fifth straight title. However, the betting could offer value in siding with Arsenal to make it third time lucky. The Gunners have finished as runners-up in each of the last two campaigns, and their young squad could finally be ready to win a first title for the Gunners in over 20 years.
Their chances will likely hinge on bringing in a new number nine before the transfer deadline, with the forward area being their only point of weakness on the field, as Gabriel Jesus is unlikely to score the 20+ goals required for a title-winning side.
Erling Haaland will be incredibly short in the betting to win the Golden Boot for the third straight season, and in truth, it will be hard to overlook the Norwegian, who has netted 63 goals in 66 Premier League appearances across the last two seasons. Haaland is the outstanding outright option, but there could be some slight value in terms of an each-way play.
Dominic Solanke has made a move to Tottenham this summer, and he looked every inch like the player that Liverpool thought they were getting for Bournemouth last term. The €64,3 million move to Spurs will see him get more chances in the final third, and we won’t be surprised to see him rank inside the top three scorers.
Arsenal’s bid for the Premier League title last season was built on a reliable defence, as they conceded just 29 goals. That will once again be their asset if they are to win the Premier League title in 24-25.
Only one central defender has won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year since 2005, with Virgil van Djik claiming the honour in 2019. However, we could see William Saliba being a standout contender in the betting should the Gunners end the season as the league champions for the first time in over 20 years.
Arsenal have shown an upward trajectory in the last three seasons as they have come closer and closer to Manchester City and to the title. Mikel Arteta’s charges missed out on the title by two points last season as they came close to dethroning Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The addition of Riccardo Calafiori adds grit to an already robust defensive unit. The return of Jurrien Timber will be akin to a new signing and adding to the options in defense.
The dynamism of Saka, Jesus, Havertz, Martinelli, and Odegaard will ensure that they retain the cutting edge in the final third. These fundamentals make Arsenal the odds-on favorites to challenge Manchester City for the title, and they have what it takes to go all the way.
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland is the favorite to retain the top scorer gong. He won it last season with 27 goals, beating his closest rival, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (22 goals), by five goals. Other potential competitors include Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.
The top scorer trophy will heavily depend on the performances of the individual sides in which these prospects will be performing. For example, Mohamed Salah underperformed last season because of the Liverpool dynamic, and Cole Palmer overperformed last season as he made his debut at Stamford Bridge.
Additional question marks will be on how Solanke reacts to the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, how Aston Villa’s Watkins reacts to life in the Champions League, and whether Isak can stay fit and healthy this season.
Given Manchester City’s stability in their style of play and system, Haaland is the odds-on favorite to take the top scorer trophy, provided he stays fit throughout the season.
Manchester City’s Phil Foden beat out the competition, including a host of Arsenal players like Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, to win the best player of the season.
The race for best player is expected to be tight this season, with the usual suspects expected to be in the running once again, and the new entrants into the league expected to stake their claim this season.
The Arsenal and Manchester City players are expected to be among those vying for the honor, given the two sides are expected to go head-to-head for the Premier League title.
With Arsenal predicted to pip Manchester City to the title, the Gunners’ orchestrator, Martin Odegaard will be the best player in the League.
His creativity, work ethic, and intelligent runs and movement, coupled with his knack for goalscoring form the ingredients for the best player in a side expected to make the hardest push yet for the Premier League title.
Arsenal have fallen just short in the past two seasons, but they now have the experience and depth to mount a serious challenge against Manchester City. Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard have been phenomenal during the friendlies, and these players could be pivotal in Arsenal’s quest for the title.
Erling Haaland has quickly established himself as one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League. Under Pep Guardiola’s guidance, Haaland has become an unstoppable force.
Given how Citys attacking prowess and Haaland’s clinical finishing, he is the main favourite to become win the top scorer trophy and could easily surpass the 30-goal mark.
Martin Ødegaard has been central to Arsenal’s resurgence, orchestrating play from midfield with vision, creativity, and leadership. As Arsenal continues to grow as a team, Ødegaard’s influence is only set to increase.
If he maintains his form and continues to be the driving force behind Arsenal’s attacking play, this could be the season where Ødegaard cements his status as the best player in the Premier League.
Manchester City is likely to win another English title, largely due to the presence of Erling Haaland, the league’s most prolific striker, and Rodri, arguably the best holding midfielder in world football. This sets City apart from their rivals, who lack such exceptional talent in crucial positions.
In addition, City have the most efficient squad rotation and strategic energy management throughout the season, which helps them avoid frequent injuries.
And, of course, Pep Guardiola continues to be a great tactical innovator while also being a brilliant motivator, which further solidifies City’s chances of securing yet another Premier League title.
In the pre-season matches, Erling Haaland has shown that he is in brilliant shape and ready to become the league’s top scorer once again.
Considering how carefully Manchester City is treating the Norwegian, there is a big reason to believe that he will avoid serious injuries which further boosts his chances of topping the scoring charts.
Cole Palmer could potentially win the award for the best player of the new EPL season.
Regardless of how Chelsea plays, Cole Palmer is in amazing form and is capable of outperforming everyone in terms of goals and assists.
