Wolves have recovered from a stuttering start to the season to sit comfortably in the top half of the table after five games. But, will they get another win this weekend?
Premier League Preview
There were fears that Wolves were not going to be able to meet the levels that they have set over the past couple of seasons this term, as they started the season slowly. However, they have bounced back in excellent form over recent weeks, as they have won their last two games. Nuno Espirito Santos’ side ended their poor run with a home victory against Fulham. It wasn’t the most convincing performance by Wolves in that fixture, as Pedro Neto’s goal was the difference between the sides.
Wolves followed that up with another 1-0 success in their last match against Leeds United. The travelling side defended well in that fixture, before taking their chance when it came. Raul Jimenez was credited with the goal, but the deflection played a huge part in wrong footing the Leeds goalkeeper.
The aim for Newcastle this season will be maintaining their Premier League status, but Steve Bruce already finds his side in 13th in the league standings. The club have conceded nine goals in give games, and have only scored seven times. They aren’t in terrible form coming into this match, as they have lost just once in their last three. That defeat came last time out against Manchester United, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at St James’ Park. Newcastle’s last win in the league came against Burnley, as they won 3-1 at home. Callum Wilson scored twice in that win, while there was also a goal for Allan Saint-Maximim.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle United Head To Head
The last three Premier League matches between these two sides have ended in draws. All three of these matches have ended in 1-1 scorelines, with the only other fixture between the two in the Premier League since 2018 being won 2-1 by Wolves. Leander Dendoncker scored the goal for Wolves in the 1-1 draw last season, after Miguel Almiron had put the Magpies ahead.
