Wolves host Premier League champions-elect Liverpool at Molineux on Thursday, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side the latest to attempt to stop their progress.
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Manchester United 2-0 on Sunday, with goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah settling the match, although Liverpool could have had more goals in what was an impressive performance.
Wolves too enjoyed their weekend, beating Southampton 3-2 after coming from 2-0 down.
Goals from Pedro Neto and a Raul Jimenez brace settled the game after Jan Bednarek and Shane Long had put the home side ahead.
Diogo Jota is closing in on a return from the calf injury that has kept him out of action and is rated at 50/50 as to whether he features on Thursday.
Willy Boly and Ruben Vinagre remain out though and do not currently have an expected return date.
For Liverpool, Dejan Lovren and Xherdan Shaqiri are both closing in on returns to action after their lengthy spells on the sidelines.
However, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Nathaniel Clyne are all ruled out.
Liverpool have been imperious all season, winning 21 of the first 22 matches and truthfully, it is difficult to see that run ending.
However, Wolves have excelled since their return to the Premier League against the so-called top six and will provide a stern examination of Liverpool on Thursday.
Even without Boly, Espirito Santo’s side is very solid at the back and can be devastating on the counter-attack.
The potential return of Jota in that sense is certainly a boost, while Jimenez has continued his excellent form all season.
Liverpool are also short in midfield with injuries to Keita and Milner, although recent performances from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana have been impressive.
On a tense night in Wolverhampton, expect Liverpool to scrape past 1-0.
