Two sides locked in the middle of the Premier League standings will lock horns this weekend. Wolves come into the round looking to bounce back from a recent defeat, while Fulham have picked up victories in each of their last two matches in the competition.
It has been a reliable season to this point for Wolves and Fulham. However, both will be looking to end the campaign in the top half of the standings. Wolves come into this weekend after suffering a defeat in their previous fixture, as they were well beaten on the road by Newcastle United.
That defeat ended a two-game winning run for the hosts, and they could yet have their sights set on a potential European finish this term. Wolves could move up to eighth in the standings if they are able to land maximum points, and their chances of victory could be aided based on the fact that they have scored at least once in all but one of their last 20 home matches.
Fulham’s season has also turned around in recent weeks. The Cottagers come into this round of matches sitting 12th in the standings after winning three of their last four, and each of their previous two. A victory on Saturday could see them potentially end the round as high as tenth in the standings.
Their most recent victory was recorded at home against Brighton, and it means that they have now scored five goals across their last two in the Premier League. The Cottagers will be looking to win three on the bounce for the first time since last season. However, they haven’t recorded three straight wins against sides in the top half of the standings since 2009.
Wolves have a fine home record in this fixture after having avoided defeat in their last seven home matches against Fulham in the Premier League. In fact, they are unbeaten in 14 league home matches against the Cottagers since a 4-0 defeat in April 1985.
Fulham’s recent run of form gives them an excellent chance of potentially upsetting the odds this weekend. However, we will be keeping faith with the in-form home side to maintain their push for a European finish this season. But, we could see both teams finding the back of the net on Saturday.
