Midweek action in the Premier League is set for this week, as there will be interesting battles at both ends of the standings. Wolves will be looking to get back on track after losing their last two when they welcome Burnley to Molineux.
It has been a testing period in the season for Wolves over recent weeks, as they have been unable to build on a strong run of form after falling to defeats in three of their last four. That leaves the Midlands side sitting 13th in the standings, and they currently boast an eight-point advantage over the bottom three places in the table.
However, a response will be needed on Tuesday, as Wolves have suffered defeats in each of their previous two matches in the competition. Their latest loss was suffered on the road against Arsenal, but positives would have been taken from their display on the road in that fixture. But, Wolves have typically underperformed in midweek matches in the Premier League, as they have won just seven of their 19 matches that have been played on a Tuesday.
Burnley have an excellent midweek record in the Premier League, as they have gone 17 without a defeat in matches played in the middle of the week. Their most recent loss was a 2-0 defeat at home against Leicester in March 2022. However, confidence around the camp should be high coming into this match, as they landed a second win of the season in their previous match.
Burnley were excellent in that fixture against Sheffield United, with five different scorers finding the back of the net. Three of their goals were netted in the final 18 minutes, with Josh Brownhill netting the fifth goal with ten minutes remaining.
Wolves landed victories in each of their first three Premier League matches against Burnley. However, they are now winless in their last seven against the Clarets. Burnley have suffered just a single defeat from 12 league meetings with Wolves.
Both sides will be keen to pick up maximum points in this fixture on Tuesday, and cases can be made for both. However, the narrow preference would be for the visitors, as they boast an incredibly strong record against Wolves in the Premier League.
