The reigning DFB Pokal holders open their campaign in the German domestic competition on Wednesday. RB Leipzig will once again be among the leading contenders to win the tournament, as they chase a third success. Wiesbaden will be the hosts, as they look to produce a huge shock.
RB Leipzig get their DFB Pokal campaign underway on Wednesday. The German side landed a famous success in the competition at the end of last season, and they will once again rank among the leading contenders to produce a famous run to the latter stages. Leipzig comes into this fixture in excellent recent form after winning each of their last five across all competitions.
Their most recent success was picked up on the road against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday. The only goal in that victory on the road was netted in the 75th minute, as Timo Werner scored the winner. However, it’s likely that a number of changes will be made for this fixture on Wednesday as Leipzig prepare to face Bayern Munich and Manchester City over the next seven days.
Wiesbaden will be the huge outsiders in the betting to land victory in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday. They are amongst the lowest ranked sides left in the competition, as they sit towards the bottom of 2. Bundesliga. Wiesbaden also come into this fixture after losing each of their previous two matches in the second tier.
It would be a huge shock to see the hosts progress through to the next round, as they are yet to reach at least the final four of the competition throughout their history. They will need to be at their very best on Wednesday to get a victory, but they will also need Leipzig to play below their usual standard.
Bet hereThis will only be the third meeting between these two sides. Both sides are level on the previous meetings, as both have recorded a victory apiece. However, Leipzig have progressed excellently since the sides met in the second tier in Germany.
This looks like a challenging fixture for the hosts on Wednesday, and they will be massive outsiders in the betting. We find it challenging to overlook the odds, and therefore, a victory for the visiting side looks set to be the most likely outcome on Wednesday evening in Germany.
