West Ham will continue their push for a European finish in the Premier League this season when they return to action on Thursday at the London Stadium. Bournemouth will be the visitors, as they bid to end a two-game losing sequence in the competition.
West Ham have enjoyed an excellent season to this point, and they remain in the hunt for a European finish. At present, the Hammers sit sixth in the standings after winning three of their last five matches, and they could close the gap on the top five by landing maximum points at home against the Cherries. However, they come into this round after playing out draws in their last two.
Bournemouth will also be looking to get their season back on track after a disappointing festive period. The Cherries have moved clear of the relegation zone after piecing together a run of victories, but they have suffered defeats in each of their last two matches. But, a return to form could put them within touching distance of the top half.
The Hammers are unbeaten in their last five matches in the Premier League, which is the longest unbeaten sequence in the competition since January 2021. However, they will be looking to avoid drawing three straight matches for the first time since April 2017. But, they have kept clean sheets in each of their last three home matches.
The Cherries have suffered consecutive defeats in the Premier League, which ended their streak of six wins in seven matches. Across their last two games, they have allowed seven goals, which is two more than they had managed across their seven prior fixtures in the Premier League.
West Ham have a fine recent record in this fixture after winning three of their last four against the Cherries. Before the start of this run, the Hammers had gone six without a victory against the Cherries. Bournemouth haven’t lost in three matches in which they have scored at least once against the Hammers.
Both of these sides could make solid claims for victory this week, but it appears more worthwhile to side with the home side. West Ham have been excellent at the London Stadium throughout the season, and we expect them to end a run of two straight draws.
