West Ham will play host to Cyprus side AEK Larnaca for the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The Hammers were not-so-comfortable winners in the reverse fixture at AEK Arena, Cyprus, in a 0-2 victory for the English side. AEK Larnaca controlled most of the game but they couldn’t just recover from Antonio’s first-half brace.
The match is scheduled for Thursday at the London Stadium at 8:00 PM (UTC).
West Ham has had somewhat of a rocky season which sees them sit at 17th in the premier league, just two points above the 20th position. They have just one win in their last four games coming against AEK Larnaca.
Conversely, the Guardians comfortably made it to the Championship playoffs with a second-place finish, just two points above first place. However, their form is nothing to write home about, with just one win in their last six games.
West Ham has three players out with injuries. They will go into the fixture missing their first-choice Goalkeeper, Fabianski. He saved two of the penalties he faced in the EPL. Coufal and WestHam’s hero in the reverse fixture, Antonio, will also be missing.
AEK Larnaca, on the other hand, will be going with a full squad.
Both teams come into the game with poor form, but West Ham are still the clear favourite to win the fixture.
The decimal odds of West Ham winning the game is 1.27 (-370 American; 27/100 Fractional).
Reason: Despite sitting at 17th position, The Hammers are still a force to reckon with as they beat their opponents at their home in the first leg. Antonio missing the game means that their first-choice striker, Ings, will have to start the game. Besides, West Ham has been unbeaten in its last four home games and for the most part, AEK Larnaca seems to be on a two-match losing streak.
