It has been an excellent return to European competition for West Ham United, as they have sailed through their Europa League campaign to this point. They will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten record with a final win on matchday six against Dinamo Zagreb.
West Ham United have come a long way under David Moyes, and their Europa League campaign this term is just a testament to the job that the Scot is doing at the Hammers. West Ham have won four of the five games that they have played in Group H, and have already assured top spot in the group with a game to spare. The Hammers have the best attacking record in the group, and have also allowed the fewest goals to this point.
West Ham have been held to just one draw in the five games that they have played, with that coming away from home against Genk. That fine run of form in the Europa League so far has seen the Hammers slashed in price to win the competition this season, and if they can maintain the form that they have shown to this point, then they could have an excellent chance of achieving something very special.
Dinamo Zagreb won’t be travelling to the London Stadium just to make up the numbers, as they will need a positive result to stay in the competition this season. A victory for the visitors will see them finish second in the standings, while a draw is also going to be enough given their advantage in the head to head record.
Zagreb have won two of the five games that they have played, but have been beaten on two occasions to this point. They have managed to score eight goals in the competition so far, but have conceded their fair share, having allowed opposing teams to score six times.
West Ham and Dinamo Zagreb met for the first time at the start of the Europa League campaign. The Hammers came out on top in that first meeting, as they won 2-0 in Croatia.
West Ham look like they will take the world of beating this week in their final Europa League group stage game. It could be a comfortable evening for the Hammers, and we could see them running out 2-0 winners.
