Valencia vs Atalanta Prediction: Champions League on 10.03.2020

Two sides that have surprised many by reaching this stage of the competition meet on Tuesday, but Atalanta holds the massive advantage going into the second leg, and Valencia will have an outside chance of making it through to the next stage of the competition.

Champions League Preview

This could be one of the more straightforward games left in the Champions League, as Atalanta holds a 4-1 advantage going into the second leg. Hans Hateboer scored a brace in that famous victory for the Italian side, while Josip Illicic and Remo Freuler also found the net.

Denis Cheryshev’s goal for the Spanish side means that they still have an outside chance of getting through, but it would seem incredibly unlikely that they will be able to achieve that. Valencia were outclassed in that first leg, but Atalanta will be without the highly-charged support behind them for this second leg. The Spanish side aren’t in the best form going into this game, however, as they have won just one of their last three fixtures.

Valencia will go into the fixture having drawn their last game 1-1 against Alaves. Dani Parejo scored the opener in that fixture before Edgar Mendez leveled the scorelines. Meanwhile, Atalanta didn’t play over the past weekend due to the coronavirus outbreak, which means their last fixture came on the 1st against Lecce. The Italians won that fixture 7-2, and they will be hopeful of securing the victory against Valencia.

The Spanish side will be hoping that they could progress should they score first in the game, but the Italian side just appears too strong and it could be a comfortable evening for them in Spain.

Head To Head

This will be the third meeting between these sides. Atalanta have won both the previous encounters, and they have scored an average of three goals per fixture. Valencia have only averaged one goal per game, and that would not make good reading for their fans, who will be hoping for at least three to progress.

Valencia Team News

The home side will be without Maxi Gomez, Eliaquim Mangala, Ezequiel Garay and Manu Vallejo for this fixture.

Atalanta Team News

The Italians will be without Rafael Toloi and Bosko Sutalo for this second leg.

Valencia vs Atalanta Prediction

This should be one of the more straightforward ties in this round. Atalanta will progress through to the next round of the competition, and they would be happy with a draw from this fixture.

Tip: Draw.
