Ukraine vs Germany Prediction: Nations League Match on 11.10.2020
Germany and Ukraine will be looking for their first wins in the Nations League this season when they face off in Kyiv this weekend. But, which team will get the win?
Nations League Preview
Both Ukraine and Germany have already qualified for the European Champions next year, which means the next 12 months will be used to solidify what they have built during the qualification stage. Ukraine topped their group, which also included Portugal, and they didn’t suffer a defeat in their eight games. They won six of their fixtures, and scored 17 goals and conceded just four.
However, their first competitive defeat was inflicted on them in their recent Nations League clash with Spain. Ukraine were humbled by the 2010 world champions 4-0. That defeat brought an end to their eleven match undefeated streak. However, their ability to go on that kind of run will be something that Germany will be wary of.
Germany are the other team in this Nations League group that are yet to win a game so far. They would have been disappointed with their results, as they were held to 1-1 draws in both outings. The first of those came against Spain, while they were held by Switzerland in their most recent game. Germany went ahead in both of those games, but surrendered the points in the second half.
They will still be considered as one of the favourites for the EUROs next year, but they will need to become more defensively resolute if they have any chance of going deep in the competition. Germany will be hoping to put their disappointing 2020 form behind them with a win in Ukraine this weekend.
Ukraine vs Germany Head To Head
Ukraine have never beaten Germany in six previous meetings. There have been three draws and three wins for Germany. The last meeting came during the 2016 European Championships, as Germany ran out 2-0 winners. Meanwhile, the last draw came in an international friendly back in 2011, as the two sides played out a very entertaining 3-3 draw.
Ukraine vs Germany Prediction
Germany still look wounded from their poor performance at the 2018 World Cup, but they will need to find some momentum during the Nations League to go into the European Championships in good form. It’s unlikely that they will top this group, but they will at least get a first win this weekend against Ukraine.
