Inter Milan could take another step toward winning the Serie A title this weekend when they travel to Udinese. The Italian giants are already running away at the top of the standings, as they boast a 14-point advantage over AC Milan.
It almost feels as though it is a question of when and not if Inter Milan win the Italian top-flight title this term. Inter currently sit 14 points clear of AC Milan at the summit, and their coronation could be just a few weeks away. Inter have been the dominant team in Italy since the opening day after winning 25 of their 30 matches, and suffering just one loss.
The Italian giants have been dominant at both ends of the field to this point, scoring an impressive 74 goals, and conceding just 14. Inter returned to action following the international break with a routine 2-0 home success against Empoli on Monday. Federico Dimarco opened the scoring after five minutes, before Alexis Sanchez added a second with just under ten minutes remaining.
Udinese will be the latest side to try and stop Inter Milan in their domestic tracks this season. The Italian side come into the round in 14th, but they boast just a three-point advantage over the relegation places. Victories have been in short supply throughout the campaign for the home side, landing just four victories in 30 outings.
It remains to be seen whether they are strong enough defensively to trouble Inter this weekend, as Udinese have already allowed 45 goals this term. Meanwhile, they have also looked short in the final third of the field throughout the season after netting just 29 goals to this point. Udinese come into this match after going two without a victory.
Inter Milan have an excellent record against Udinese. The runaway leaders have won five of the previous six league meetings between these sides, which includes victories in each of the previous two. Inter were healthy 4-0 winners in the reverse clash between the teams in December.
Inter should have far too much in the final third of the field for their rivals on Monday. Therefore, we could see the travelling side scoring victory by a two-goal margin to take another step towards winning the top prize in Italy.
