Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League hopes have faded quickly over recent weeks, and they will need a big win this weekend against Burnley to ease the pressure on Jose Mourinho.
Premier League Preview
Tottenham Hotspur will kick off this weekend’s game against Burnley in ninth place in the league table, as they sit nine points outside of the top four. A finish in those Champions League places already looks to be a big ask for Spurs this season, and their recent form could illustrate that they may be more likely to drop further down the standings. Spurs have lost five of their last six games in the league, which includes consecutive defeats against West Ham United and Manchester City. Their best recent performances have come in the Europa League, and Dele Alli could have played his way back into the thinking of his manager after an impressive performance against Wolfsburger in midweek. The English midfielder has been left in exile throughout the season and has been given sporadic times to shine. Alli did shine in the second leg in midweek, as he scored the opener to put Spurs on their way to a 4-0 win at the New Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Sean Dyche may still feel that his side need a couple more wins to secure their position in the Premier League next season. The Clarets are currently in 15th place in the league standings, and have gone four games without defeat. However, three of those four games have ended in draws, which includes their recent stalemate against West Bromwich Albion. There is a six-point gap between themselves and the relegation places ahead of this game, but Dyche will be optimistic that his side could get a shock win after they beat Liverpool at Anfield just a couple of weeks ago.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley Head To Head
The Spurs have won two of the last three, and six of the previous nine against Burnley. Spurs won the last meeting between the sides at Turf Moor 1-0 back in October. They ran out big winners the last time that the sides played each other in North London, as they won 5-0.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley Prediction
Burnley have been a tough side to break down over recent weeks, but Spurs are in desperate need of a Premier League win. We expect Tottenham to get the win, but it will be a tight game between the two sides.
