Inter Milan will have an opportunity to move to the top of the Serie A standings this weekend, as they come up against Torino away from home. The hosts will also be looking for a response after going four without a victory in the competition.
It has been a reliable start to the Serie A season for Inter Milan, as they chase a second league title in four seasons. The capital club currently sit second in the standings, but they could move to the summit if they are able to pick up maximum points on the road this weekend.
Inter have been excellent over the opening months of the season, as they have picked up six wins from their opening eight matches. But, a recent draw means that they trail their cross-city rivals in the standings by two points head of this weekend. Inter’s recent draw was picked up against Bologna, as the home side threw away a 2-0 advantage, which was given to them following goals from Francesco Acerbi and Lautaro Martinez inside the opening 13 minutes.
Torino find themselves in the bottom half of the standings after eight rounds of matches, as they have landed just two victories over the opening two months of the season. But, they currently hold a comfortable advantage over the sides in the relegation spots, as they sit five clear of the bottom three.
But, they come into this match following the international break after suffering two defeats in their previous three matches. Their most recent setback was suffered on the road in Turin, as they were easily beaten 2-0 by Juventus on October 7.
Inter have an impressive record in this fixture, as they have landed victories in seven of the previous eight encounters in the league. That includes victories in each of the previous two by a 1-0 scoreline. Their most recent victory was an away win against Torino in early June.
Inter have been among the quickest starters in Serie A this term, and that bodes well for their chances this weekend. We expect the Italian giants to encounter few issues in their race for maximum points on Saturday, and we could see them securing a 3-1 win to move to the top of the standings.
