Torino will be looking to boost their chances of a European finish in Serie A on Monday evening when they host Bologna. Meanwhile, the visitors will also be keen to pick up maximum points, as they sit level on points with seventh-placed Juventus.
This looks set to be an intriguing fixture in the race for a European finish this season. Bologna looks best placed to challenge for a place in the top seven, as they sit four points ahead of Torino coming into this fixture, and they have been in solid recent form, having won four of their previous five matches. However, they have struggled with scoring goals throughout this season, as they have netted just 26 in 24 games to this point.
Bologna was excellent at both ends of the field in their previous game, as they battled to a 1-0 home win against Inter Milan. Their winning goal was scored with just 14 minutes remaining, as Riccardo Orsolini finally managed to break the Inter resistance. But, they also defended excellently in the final 15 minutes to secure maximum points.
Torino sits a place directly below Bologna in the current standings, but they are four points adrift of their rivals. They come into this fixture in slightly indifferent form, as they have failed to win in three league fixtures. Over that period, they have lost on two occasions, which means that they have now suffered nine losses in the Italian top-flight this term.
Torino was last in action on Tuesday evening, as they were beaten 4-2 by a resurgent Juventus. Yann Karamoh and Antonio Sanabria twice fired Torino into the lead, but Juventus dragged themselves level before the break, and later scored two goals in the final 20 minutes to secure the victory.
Bologna has gone undefeated in the previous two meetings between the sides, while they have lost just once in the last six clashes with Torino. The previous meeting this season saw Bologna pick up a 2-1 home win. However, they have won just once away from home against Torino in seven visits.
We expect this to be a very cagey fixture between these two sides on Monday evening. However, we have been impressed by Bologna’s recent performances, and their excellent undefeated record in recent clashes against Torino is a boost. Therefore, we will be siding with an away victory.
