Togo vs Rwanda Prediction: African Nations Match on 26.01.2021

Tuesday brings another eye-catching round of matches for football fans to enjoy with major leagues backed up by the African Nations schedule. In this article, our team of sports experts focus their attention on Togo vs Rwanda in the hope of predicting a winner.

An interesting side note to this game is Togo and Rwanda have never faced off in competitive action with Tuesday’s game being the first recorded meeting. That means both teams will be eager to get off to a winning start and write their names into the history books.

Togo former quartet finalists

The Sparrowhawks are currently as low as 128th in the world according to FIFA and that should give casual followers of this competition an idea of what to expect from Togo. They were once as high as 46th in the world but that effort was back in the summer of 2006. Since then we’ve seen Togo continue to fall down the list.

They have played only once in the World Cup, eliminated at the group stage in 2006 but have fared much better in the African Nations, qualifying eight times already. Their best effort so far came in 2013 when Togo made it all the way to the quarter-finals.  A repeat of that run isn’t beyond them, but it would be a big ask.

Rwanda have qualified once before

A check on the current FIFA rankings show Rwanda sit a lowly 133rd in the world having been as high as 64th in the spring of 2015. They are a team never expected to make an impact in any major international tournament but have shown in the past by causing their share of upset wins that they shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Rwanda have appeared in this competition only once previously when qualifying in 2004 but they failed to make an impact, knocked out at the earliest opportunity in the group stages. Qualifying was a source of pride that year, but fans will want to see better from the team here.

Togo vs Rwanda

These sides look evenly matched on paper, but Togo hold the lion’s share of experience in this competition and will be eager to make it count by taking all three points from Rwanda. A competitive 90 minutes is expected.

African Nations odds

Togo are 2.57 to win this match at 22bet with Rwanda priced at 2.964 and the draw 3.04.
