The Serie A champions will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend as they travel to Spezia. But, will they be able to close the gap on the current league leaders?
It has been a challenging start to the season for Andrea Pirlo, as he has won just two in five fixtures in Serie A so far. Juventus will remain the team to beat in Serie A, but they will be anxious that the gap between themselves and the team at the top of the league table doesn’t extend any further. The Old Lady are already four points off the pace in the title race, and much of that is due to their poor run of form. Juventus haven’t won in two league games, and haven’t won in three in all competitions.
The Old Lady have drawn their last two games in Italy, while they will come into this match after being beaten by Barcelona in their last fixture in the Champions League. Juventus were below par in that fixture, as Barcelona should have won the game by much more. Cristiano Ronaldo will still be missing Juventus in this fixture.
Spezia have enjoyed a decent start to the season after being promoted to Serie A last term. They have won one from five games in Italy so far this season, but they will come into this match having not won in their previous two. However, they will take confidence from the fact that they haven’t been beaten, as both matches have ended in draws. The most recent of those was a 2-2 draw against Parma. Julian Chabot and Kevin Agudelo scored the goals for Spezia in that draw, as they were cruelly denied all three points in the final minute of the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo will still be missing for Juventus after a second positive COVID test, while Alex Sandro is a doubt. Federico Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot will both be missing through suspension. Andrej Galabinov, Juan Ramos and Federico Mattiello will all be missing for the home side this weekend.
There have been enough positives for Spezia so far this season to suggest that they will be safe this season, but it is highly unlikely that they will be able to get anything from this game as we expect Juventus to get back to winning ways.
