The winter schedule in the Premier League continues on Sunday, and there appears to be a must-win match for Sheffield United. The Blades will be looking for a vital victory in their battle to avoid relegation, but it could be a testing assignment against an in-form West Ham.
Sheffield United return to Premier League action this weekend, as they bid to enhance their survival chances by landing maximum points against West Ham. The Blades remain rock-bottom in the standings, and they have picked up just two victories in 20 outings this term. Meanwhile, no side has suffered more league defeats so far this term.
Sheffield United have gone four without a win in the league, losing three times over that period. The Blades will be in desperate need of a return to form after losing two on the bounce, which leaves them eight points adrift of safety. Their most recent defeat was away from home against Man City. That fixture always appeared to be a massive challenge, but they would have been appeased to only concede twice.
West Ham will also be on the search for a return to winning ways after being dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship side Bristol City in midweek. The Hammers have been strong in the league throughout the season, and they currently sit sixth in the standings after winning half of their 20 matches this term.
Meanwhile, West Ham have gone four matches without defeat in the league, winning on three occasions over that period. But, they were held to a goalless draw in their previous league match by Brighton at the London Stadium. However, a win this weekend will see them end the round just three points off the top five.
West Ham have landed victories in their last three matches against the Blades without conceding a goal. That includes a 2-0 success in the first meeting between the teams in 2023-24.
Sheffield United have really struggled in the Premier League this term, and things won’t be getting any easier this weekend. The Hammers were disappointing against Bristol in midweek, but a return to winning ways looks to be on the cards this weekend at Bramall Lane.
