The pressure continues to build on Sheffield United, as their wait for a first league win of the season goes on. Wolves are the visitors to Bramall Lane on Saturday, as the Black Country club seeks a third win in five Premier League matches.
It has been a disastrous start to the Premier League season for Sheffield United, as the Blades remain in the bottom three spots in the league standings after failing to pick up a single victory from their opening ten matches. In fact, they have made one of the worst starts to a Premier League campaign after picking up just one point from a possible 30.
The Blades come into this weekend after suffering defeats in each of their previous five fixtures. Meanwhile, no side in the Premier League has allowed more than the 29 goals conceded by Sheffield United. Their most recent defeat was a humbling experience at the Emirates, as Arsenal recorded a very easy 5-0 success over the Blades in North London.
Wolves have eased their relegation worries for the time being, as they have effortlessly moved up to 12th in the standings after going five matches without a defeat. They have won twice over that period, but huge confidence would have been taken from their entertaining 2-2 draw against Newcastle last weekend.
Hwang Hee-Chan eventually scored the equalising goal in that clash, which was the very least that the home side deserved against the Magpies. The opening goal for Wolves was netted by Mario Lemina. A victory this weekend could see Wolves end the round in eighth spot in the Premier League standings.
Wolves have an excellent record in this fixture, as they have won each of the last three against the Blades across all competitions. Their most recent win was 3-0 success in the FA Cup in January 2022. Sheffield United’s only win since the start of 2018 against Wolves was picked up at Bramall Lane in July 2020.
It’s incredibly hard to see where Sheffield United’s first league win of the season is going to come from. We don’t expect it to come this weekend, as Wolves look great value to continue their excellent recent run of form by gaining maximum points to move into the top half of the standings.
