A huge grudge match in La Liga takes place on Sunday, as Sevilla and Real Betis lock horns. The sides find themselves at contrasting ends of the standings at this early stage, with Betis looking for a win on the road, which would lift them into the top five in the table.
A huge match between two massive rivals will take place in La Liga this weekend, as Sevilla look to finally get back on track after making another slow start to the domestic season. The Spanish side currently sits down in 15th in the table, as they have landed just two wins from their opening eleven matches this term. Sevilla have already suffered four defeats in the competition this term.
They have had continued issues at both ends of the field over the early months, as they have netted just 17 goals across their eleven matches, and have conceded on 16 occasions. Draws have also been a worry in recent weeks, as they have played out ties in each of their previous four. The most recent of those was a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo last Saturday.
It has been a different story for Betis so far this term, as they are in the mix for a European place at this early stage. At present, they sit sixth in the La Liga standings, and they have won five of their opening 12 matches. They have suffered just two defeats across the opening months of the campaign, and they come into this fixture after winning their last two.
Betis continued their strong start to the season last weekend, as they picked up a commanding 2-0 home win against Mallorca. William Jose opened the scoring after just seven minutes, before Ayoze Perez netted the second goal with 25 minutes remaining.
Draws have been a common outcome when these sides have met in recent seasons, with three of the last six ending level. That includes ties in both of the clashes last term. However, Sevilla are unbeaten in their last nine league matches against Betis, winning on six occasions.
Sevilla’s record in this fixture is challenging to overlook, but their form this term continues to be a worry. Therefore, an interesting betting angle this weekend could be the draw.
