The main aim for AS Roma remains to finish in a Champions League spot. However, it’s unlikely that they would be too disappointed if they finished outside the top four providing that they won a piece of silverware for the second season running under Mourinho. The Italian giants will be looking to respond after they were beaten in their previous league fixture, but they have appeared strong in this competition throughout the campaign. 

Roma has reached the final of the Coppa Italia on two occasions since 2009, but they were beaten on both occasions. They look good value to go one better this term at this stage. It has been a difficult campaign for Cremonese, as they sit bottom of the Serie A standings, having failed to pick up a single victory so far this term. However, they are enjoying a fine run in the Coppa Italia, having progressed excellently through the opening two rounds.

Their biggest win of the season was recorded in Naples in the previous round, as they edged out runaway Serie A leaders, Napoli, on penalties. It was a strong display by Cremonese, with Charles Pickel and Felix Afena-Gyan netting the goals. However, this looks like it will require another massive effort.

This will be the second meeting between the sides this season. The first clash was a tight affair, with AS Roma eventually landing a 1-0 win. Another cagey affair is likely on Wednesday evening in the Coppa Italia.
